Our Story

Breast cancer walks often create deep, unexpected bonds. Angel’s journey began in 2010 when she chose to Live Her DASH by completing her first 60-mile breast cancer walk. Along the way, she met Dana—a brief meeting that grew into a life-changing friendship. After the walk, they stayed connected and built a relationship filled with encouragement, creativity, and genuine compassion.
From that connection, “Dana’s Angels” was born. Dana was living with breast cancer, and Angel devoted herself to helping her fill her DASH with purpose and kindness. Together, they created a team logo in Dana’s honor and committed to walking not only for breast cancer, but for causes like poverty, homelessness, and premature births.

Living in different states, their teamwork grew through calls, letters, and social media. Angel walked for numerous charities while Dana sent constant encouragement. Their vision expanded, imagining a space where acts of kindness could reach countless people. Dana’s Angels soon became a charitable organization helping the homeless, hungry, and those facing hardship. Despite her declining health, Dana’s joy and support inspired Angel to continue giving. When Dana passed away on February 25, 2012, her family—who had never met Angel—embraced her and encouraged her to keep walking in Dana’s memory.
Today, Dana’s legacy lives on in every member of Dana’s Angels. The team walks each October for breast cancer and every September for ovarian cancer. Throughout the year, they collect donations, make handmade items, assemble “Blessing Bags,” and provide essentials for children, families, seniors, and the homeless.
Their mission remains simple: to inspire acts of kindness and honor the DASH we all have to live.
